The Battlefords
Provincial Park On Jackfish Lake In
Saskatchewan
Family
reunions are a tradition for many families.
Every
five years my family have got together to compete in a horse
shoe tournament,
drink some fine spirits
and talk about the spirits that are among us.

We were asked
to bring our own salad and dessert to add to the BBQ suppers.
Many attendees
brought their RVs and filled a common campsite others
booked into
Jackfish Lodge on the golf course
Connecting with relatives we had never met and remembering the past was a big part of the weekend.

The Duvall and Rutley families has a history going back
as far as to the Huguenots in France and Switzerland.
From my mother's story:
Duvalls were of Huguenot (French) descent, which had
fled to England and the first Duvall served in Wolfe’s Army, in
Quebec. When the war was over many of the soldiers chose to remain in
America and settled in New York State. We know little about how
many of the family were there, except that David Duvall was a very
young boy when family moved to Canada, settling also in Stromont
County.
