I enjoyed seeing my granddaughter, Kaney, graduate from grade twelve at Central Memorial High School, Calgary along with 500 fellow students. Graduation Exercises were held at Stampede Coral

Kaney

Her sister, Lexi, was in the school band which played the background music for the ceremony.

Munroe Wing

I have almost completed the first draft of my autobiography. It was a good experience to write it and it truly was a healing process.  The biggest thing was the decision of how much to write and how detailed to be.

Here is a excerpt of my nursing days at Munroe Wing at RGH

LSD was made available to the staff for experiments. A few of the staff took part in the experiments that were held. I booked a session on one of me days off. A small dose was given under the supervision of a staff researcher. It was quite an experience. Before the session I was to write down a question that I wanted an answer to. While the LSD was working on me, I saw the details of the room and the picture that hung on the wall. It was as if the subjects in the picture came alive and danced before my eyes. As the researcher sat in his chair, the chair squeaked with his movements. The sound gave me a paranoid feeling as I thought he was laughing at me. The session lasted for a few hours. When I was 'out' of the acute effects of the drug, the researcher took me out for a meal. He told me it was essential for me to eat as it would lessen the after effects of the LSD. He ordered me a steak dinner and when it arrived I took a look at the meat and saw every molecule moving on the plate that looked like worms. It was very hard to eat it. I was not sure if the researcher learned anything from that experiment session, but I sure did. I learned that when you ask a question, the answer is already there. I also learned that this drug in not one I would take again.”

Hiking with Mike

Over the past few months I have been busy writing my autobiography.
I just finished a chapter called Europe Adventures.

It has been a real journey to re-read old letters and diaries to complete this chapter.
I relived so many events and remembered the warmhearted people we met along the way.

Here is just one event I shall share.

Marion, Mike, Lorraine and Jacqui
"August 1960  We met a young Canadian named Mike, in Italy at the Naples Youth Hostel. He wanted someone to hike with him so he came along with us. I decided to hike with with him back to Rome, leaving Marion and Jacqui to auto-stop together. Mike and I got a few rides through the towns on the Mediterranean Coast. At one of our stops there was a field of tomatoes. They looked delicious so Mike and I picked a few and ate them. The one ride I will never forget. It was with elderly fellow driving a new Alpha Romeo convertible sports car. He traveled 140 kilometers and hour all the way to Rome "

Greece: An Excerpt from my Autobiography

Leon's Duplicate
1960
"In seeing the famous “Acropolis”, high on the hill some distance from us, we struck out in that direction.
It was a puzzle to get to as there were many times we found ourselves in the dead-end streets. After several of these we finally found the correct one.
When we reached the top we were completely played out so we just sat down and rested and stared at the ruins, the city of Athens beneath us and the sea away off in the distance.
Browsing among the ruins, the sea appeared to us as a lovely place to find a place to eat and buy souvenirs"

While there I purchased a Goddess Sculpture. During my travels It was damaged. Here is the duplicated sculpture that my son, Leon, made when he was a teenager.

As A Side Note:  I went online to find  if it was a Greek Goddess, but could not find any information. I then decided to do a quiz on what Goddess I would be.
Here was the answer.

You Are the Greek Goddess Demeter

You are an Earth Mother, provider of delicious food and beautiful children. You prefer the company of the young, but you have a decided wanderlust, which makes being tied down lead to periods of depression. You are conscientious, law-abiding, and spiritual.
Who Is Demeter?: Demeter is a goddess of fertility, grain, and agriculture. She is pictured as a mature motherly figure. Although she is the goddess who taught mankind about agriculture, she is also the goddess responsible for creating winter and a mystery religious cult. She is usually accompanied by her daughter Persephone.
