Randal and I took in our first Garlic Festival. We drove from Osoyoos towards Oliver BC and turned East on Road 8 to Hester Creek Estate Winery and Terafina Restaurant. In this area of the Southern Okanagan Valley there are several wineries.
We were guided to a parking spot along the vineyards where many others were already parked. From there a shuttle car drove us to the event.
We we greeted by the Garlic Festival Ambassador and an admission donation to the Oliver Elementary School's Farm to School salad bar program was welcomed.
Several vendors of garlic products, wine and BBQ food were busy with the participants.
We stopped in the patio restaurant for a snack of baggette, liver pate and a glass of wine while we listened to live music.
My Favourite Vendor was GarlicFreak selling an award winning premium Garlic Elixir,
Preserves, Pickles, and all thing garlic. Garlic Freak produces small batch
artisanal pickles, salsa, crock fermented sauerkraut, jellies, and
best selling Garlic Elixir the old fashioned way. All preserves are
made with organic garlic, highlighting the amazing uses of all parts
of the garlic plant, and top quality fresh local Okanagan fruits and
vegetables prepared within hours of harvest.
We came home with a few products and Hester Creek Character white wine.
