In October Lynne, Nikki and I made a trip to
visit with Leon, Geni and Kayla via Delta Flight from Calgary to Minneapolis, then boarded a flight to
Charlotte NC.
Leon, with his big smile, was waiting for us when we
arrived in mid afternoon. He took the back highways back to his
farm. It was dark when we arrived a couple of hours later.
Geni had
supper ready, with fresh baked biscuits, salad and honey squash
veggie soup. Most of the ingredients were from their garden.
He showed us to our accommodations,
small house with solar power hocked up to the main house. every night the full moon
shone brightly through the windows.
Mediation took
place every morning in a Zendo down the hill from the house.
Then Geni took us
for a walk through the woods
Each day we
assemble in the kitchen around the large working table learning
where Leon and Geni prepared their meals.
Mushrooms diekon radishes, yakon, fresh turmeric, figs, chestnuts, water melons
Geni washed
small sweet potatoes and Lynne cut open chess nuts to go in with the
sweet potatoes in the pressure cooker. When everything was done we
all had a feast of the crop from Leon's garden.
He loves to explain in details the vegetables he grows and about the fermenting process.
